About

A picture of me in Saint Petersburg during my visit, December 2012.

Hello! Here is a little about the author of this blog.

Born in Florida, USA and trained as a photographer and graphic artist, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Integrated Design from Parsons School of Design, apart of the New School University, in New York City. I have traveled and lived in many countries, including Japan, France and Austria, to learn about new languages and cultures as an English teacher.

Due to my background in printmaking, I have always been interested in crafts and "low art" rather than the high arts of the traditional art history canon. I have studied the history of graphic design, photography, modern aesthetic philosophy and Modern American art in depth during my studies, with special attention to institutional critique and the feminist craft revival. The places where definitions overlap and blur between "art and craft" is where my main area of interest lies.

At the present, I continue to take photographs and also sell vintage collectibles in our Etsy shop.  In my free time, I study the Russian language, keeping in touch with my friends in Russia via the miracle of the internet. I plan in the future to study Craft & Folk Arts at the Masters level in University in 2013.  Classic and silent films, vintage clothing and reading (philosophy, history, poetry and literature) are among my hobbies.
